Dover wildlife control tip of the month:

How to keep raccoons away from your property?

Raccoons may be cute or friendly, but they can also be dangerous around humans and house pets. They are wild animals and they will behave and act like wild animals. They have sharp teeth, claws and they carry rabies as well as parasites. You must not catch them by hand without the Dover wildlife removal gloves. If they are cornered, they will feel threatened and they do not have a choice, but to attack you. You can keep them away from your property without killing them. They are nocturnal animals and they are active at night time. They are very noisy, since they use more than a hundred sounds to communicate with the other raccoons. They can pull off the sidings of your windows and tear the openings to get in your home. They are omnivorous, but they will eat whatever is available for them. They are mostly seen around the trash bins.

They are active at night time; they want to be in the dark most of the time. When you install a motion activated light, that may be of help in discouraging them to invade your property. On the other hand, some simple Dover pest control porch lights may not be of help. You may also need to think of some extreme measures in terms of light if that is what you want to use to prevent them from coming in your property. Multiple lights can help, but they do not guarantee absolute solution. Another thing is that raccoons do not like to be with humans, so if you will place a radio nearby the trash bins that may be of help in discouraging them to come over. You can set the radio in a station that constantly talk, that may not be loud enough, but the voices will make them think twice in invading the Dover exterminator area.

Having a metal trash bin can also help. You can improve the seal on the plastic tube like in the case of water lines in the washer system or in the ice maker line. You can cut through the length of the Dover animal control tube and then slip it over the rim of the bin. It can make the bin seal tightly. Raccoons like the food, clean all the time and will often wash it with water. They need a water available all the time, so if you can eliminate their sources of water, they may think twice before invading your property. They also find the smell of the Dover animal trapping ammonia and moth ball offensive, so if you will place an ammonia to the garbage, they will not mess with it.
